August 2009 Special Executive Committee Meeting Minutes
Details:
Executive Members Present: Marcia DuBois, Chairman, Jack Brandt, Vice-Chairman, Ellen Shackelford, Secretary.
Executive Members Absent: Terry LaBar, Treasurer
Ex-Officio Member: Theresa Preda, DSU representative. Alexandra Dixon by phone (did not participate in the discussion).
Staff: Rhonda Jeter, Council Administrator, Mary-Margaret Cash, Eleanor Williams
Chairman Marcia DuBois convened the meeting of the Executive Committee at 1:17 p.m. and followed with introductions. Chairman DuBois provided an overview of the issue at hand and the purpose of the meeting. The Committee reviewed the letter from RSA requiring an amendment to the State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL).
Theresa Preda led a discussion of the current SPIL section under review.The Committee discussed amendment suggestions from Ms. Preda as well as written comments received from Karen Michalski-Karney, Director of the Blue Ridge Independent Living Center and newly appointed member of the SILC who will join the Council at their October meeting.
After a comprehensive discussion, a motion was made and seconded to approve the proposed SPIL amendment as revised by the Committee.Brandt/Shackelford.Motion passed.
The Committee will ask Commissioner Rothrock to submit a draft of the proposed amendment language to RSA for review. If the RSA does not indicate that technical assistance is needed for further development, the proposed amendment will be posted for public comment.
A motion was made and seconded to adopt the SPIL amendment if there is no public comment.Brandt/Shackelford.Motion passed.
A motion was made and seconded to open the public comment period for the SPIL amendment for a period of one week.Shackelford/Brandt.Motion passed.
There being no further business, a motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 2:40 p.m. Brandt/Dubois.Motion passed.
